A recent visitor to the Eye Sight, asked me, why eyes? Well, as far as I could recall I’ve always had a fascination with the eyes, perhaps it was from my childhood, where I was always being complemented on how good my eye sight was. I could find the smallest thing. My mother was always scared of the evil eye. At one stage in my film and TV career I had my eyes insured. I became a visual artist so as to describe what I saw. Perhaps in my lifelong obsession on the subject, the reasons for my gaze will become clear.

My Eye Story

When I was a kid, my family would spend some school holidays, out of Melbourne City in Gipsland Victoria. There was a small dairy farm, where there lived a boy of my own age around 9-10 years old.
One year, (the last year) The boy and I were playing with sticks, long sharpened sticks and sword fighting as boys often do. Then it happened, with one swift fateful move my stick, went straight in the other boy’s eye! There was blood, there was wailing and screaming, panic and terror and massive inconvenience ensued for the poor boy and his family. I was hurried away by my parent’s and was never taken back, the poor boy had a glass eye after that. I’ll never forget it.
